Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination to accept applications

The following is issued on behalf of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong.

The 2003 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination will accept applications from 2.1.2003 to 31.1.2003 inclusive, the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong announced today (December 20).

"To be eligible for the examination, a person should fulfill one of the following criteria: (a) He/She must satisfy the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong that at the time of the application, he/she has satisfactorily completed an undergraduate degree course in Chinese medicine practice as approved by the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board; or (b) He/She is a listed Chinese medicine practitioner who is required by the Chinese Medical Practitioners Board to undertake the Licensing Examination prior to registration," a spokesman for the Board said.

"Listed Chinese medicine practitioners who wish to undertake the Licensing Examination need not apply now. They will be informed individually by the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of the date and other details of enrolment for the Licensing Examination at a later date," the spokesman added.

The Licensing Examination, to be held in mid 2003, consists of two parts, viz. written examination and clinical examination. Candidates who pass the Licensing Examination shall be qualified to apply for registration as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner in Hong Kong.

Application forms and candidate handbooks for the Licensing Examination are now available for collection at the Secretariat of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong at 37/F Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong. They can also be downloaded from the Council's homepage (website: www.cmchk.org.hk ). The handbook for candidates can also be obtained by fax at the enquiry hotline (Tel. No.: 2574 9999) of the Department of Health.

Interested persons should send in their completed application forms to the Council Secretariat between 2.1.2003 and 31.1.2003 inclusive.
