The Department of Health (DH) will bring its elderly health service messages right into the homes of the elderly and their carers 24 hours a day.
The Assistant Director of Health (Elderly Health Services), Dr Chan Wai-man said: "The DH Elderly Health Services Homepage has just been launched and the address is http://www.info.gov.hk/elderly "
"The Homepage is tailor-made for the elderly and their carers to enhance health knowledge on common health problem and to promote healthy lifestyle. New topics will be added regularly."
"The design and format are geared for the elderly with good colour contrast and no flashes. A function on 'How to enlarge the font size' is included to advise those elderly with need to adjust the font size in a user-friendly way."
DH's Elderly Health Services (EHS) Homepage includes:
* What's New -- provides information on recent activities including new health topics just launched and to be launched in the coming months
* Background -- highlights the background on the establishment of EHS
* Vision and Mission
* Main Services -- depicts scope of services provided by EHS
* Performance Pledge -- states the performance pledge for Elderly Health Centre (EHC) and Visiting Health Team (VHT)
* How to contact us -- lists the telephone numbers and addresses of EHCs and VHTs
* Health Information -- provides a total of 33 titles of health information under three subheadings namely "Health problems of the elderly" e.g. Stroke, Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus; "Healthy Lifestyles" e.g. Sleeping Well, Mental Health; and "Self-help tips for the elderly" e.g. Elderly Safety, Fall Prevention
* Publications -- provides text content of current and past issues of EHS Newsletter and
* Telephone Hotlines -- EHS Information Hotline number and other useful hotline e.g. Oral Health Education Unit Hotline, Dr Sex Hotline
