The new Virtual AIDS Office (VAO) of Hong Kong is launched. Members of the public can visit www.info.gov.hk/aids for information.
The VAO of Hong Kong is an initiative of AIDS Unit, Department of Health, Hong Kong. The VAO functions as a clearinghouse of the Units four main programmes which are executed by the HIV Prevention and Health Promotion Team and Surveillance Office based in Red Ribbon Centre at Lok Fu, HIV Clinical Team based in Integrated Treatment Centre at Kowloon Bay and the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS Secretariat located in Yaumatei.
Comprehensive information on HIV medicine and care, epidemiology, policy development as well as HIV prevention and health promotion is readily available and updated at the VAO.
When visiting the VAO, members of the public would appreciate how Red Ribbon Centre operate as a designated Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Collaborating Centre for Technical Support to facilitate and enhance the communitys response to HIV/AIDS in Hong Kong and the neighbouring regions. Through the VAO, members of the public can keep in touch with the current HIV/AIDS situation, and the relevant reports and publications published by the Hong Kong Advisory Council on AIDS, Red Ribbon Centre and other Government Departments. Information on the AIDS Counselling Service with its AIDS Hotline 2780 2211 is readily available at the VAO.
