The Department of Health (DH) today (October 10) received notification of eight more suspected clenuterol food poisoning cases from public hospitals in the New Territories.
A DH spokesman said however that in the newly notified cases, which involved four male and 11 female, pig offal was purchased last weekend in Tai Po, Shatin and Tseung Kwan O. The patients had symptoms of tremor and palpitation after consuming the pig offal.
The condition of all 15 are now stable.
During the five days ending October 10, DH had received notification of a total of 30 suspected cases of clenbuterol food poisoning involving 24 male and 48 female aged between one and 67.
The spokesman called on members of the public to maintain a balance diet and to patronise reputable retailers when buying pork and pig offal.
