Copies of the application form and handbook for the registration of Chinese medicine practitioners under the transitional arrangements will be available for collection from all District Offices and the Secretariat of the Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong (CMC) starting from tomorrow (August 1).
A spokesman for the CMC today (July 31) said: "Application for the registration of Chinese medicine practitioners will take place from August 16 to December 30 this (2000) year."
"Chinese medicine practitioners who were practising Chinese medicine on January 3 this (2000) year, should submit their applications within the four-and-a-half-month period."
"Applicants will be allowed to continue practising Chinese medicine and use the title 'Chinese Medicine Practitioner' until their applications are rejected or until the end of the transitional period on such date as specified."
The spokesman reiterated that eligible persons who did not submit an application within the application period, would not be allowed to apply for registration under the transitional arrangements or to continue to practise Chinese medicine after December 30 this (2000) year.
The application handbook provides details on application procedures and requirements.
The Secretariat of the CMC is located on 37th Floor of Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.
The Department of Health has set up two Hotlines (2574 9999 and 2574 4333) to facilitate public enquires. Application forms can also be obtained by fax via the two Hotlines.
