In response to enquiries, a spokesman for the Department of Health said today (24 March) : "It is the considered view of the Advisory Committee on Immunization that it is not yet appropriate to introduce chickenpox vaccination into the Government's immunization programme for children."
The spokesman said however that chickenpox vaccines are available in Hong Kong. Members of the public who wish to receive vaccination for personal protection may approach their own doctors for advice.
