2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination opens for application

The following announcement is issued on behalf of Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong.

The Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board of Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong announced today (Monday) that the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination will be open for application from 15.9.2006 to 26.10.2006 (both dates inclusive).

The 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination consists of Part I Written Examination to be held in June 2007, and Part II Clinical Examination in August 2007.

Candidates who have passed the written examination but not the clinical examination should enrol for sitting the 2007 Licensing Examination – Part II Clinical Examination on or before 30.3.2007.

For listed Chinese medicine practitioners who wish to undertake the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination, they should submit their enrolments from 15.9.2006 to 30.3.2007.

According to Chinese Medicine Ordinance (Cap. 549 of the Laws of Hong Kong), any other person who wishes to apply for registration as a registered Chinese medicine practitioner must first undertake and pass the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination.

A person is eligible to undertake the Examination if he has satisfactorily completed a recognised undergraduate degree training course in Chinese medicine practice or its equivalent approved by the Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board.

The Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board recognises the undergraduate degree courses in Chinese medicine of no less than 5 years' duration offered by the 31 universities and institutes stated in Table 1 of the “Candidates' Handbook of the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination” Other than the clinical internship and clinical practice, the course must be fully conducted in the school awarding the bachelor degree in Chinese medicine.

The Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board has amended the rules and content of the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination. Details of the revised rules and content, eligibility, list of schools offering recognised courses are set out in the “Candidates' Handbook for the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination”.

Application forms and the “Candidates' Handbook for the 2007 Chinese Medicine Practitioners Licensing Examination” are distributed at the Secretariat of Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong at 37/F Wu Chung House, 213 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong. They can be downloaded from the Council's homepage (www.cmchk.org.hk). The handbook can also be obtained by fax at the telephone enquiry hotline 2574 9999 of Department of Health.
