Situation report on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome

The following is jointly issued by the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority:

There are two new confirmed cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) today (May 28). However, there is no SARS case involving healthcare worker.

The number of patients recovered and discharged from hospitals continues to rise to 1295. Of them, 10 were discharged today.

Including 33 patients in intensive care unit, there are 102 cases under treatment in hospitals. Most of the patients are showing positive responses to the treatment protocol. In addition, 63 are recovering patients in convalescence and in preparation for discharge.

One patient died in North District Hospital(NDH). This brought to 270 the total number of deaths relating to SARS.

The deceased was a woman aged 72. Her information is as follows:
