Chart A: Activity Status of Occupational Therapists Covered Of the 1 908 occupational therapists covered, 1 022 (53.6%) responded to the survey, while the remaining 886 (46.4%) did not respond. Among the respondents, 947 (92.7%) were active in the local occupational therapy profession as at 31.3.2017 whereas 75 (7.3%) reported to be inactive in the local occupational therapy profession. Among the 947 active occupational therapists, 934 (98.6%) were practising in the local occupational therapy profession, ten (1.1%) (a) were not practising in the occupational therapy profession in Hong Kong during the survey period; (b) had been available for work during the seven days before the survey; AND (c) had sought work in the local occupational therapy profession during the 30 days before the survey and the remaining three (0.3%) (a) were not practising in the occupational therapy profession in Hong Kong during the survey period; (b) had been available for work during the seven days before the survey; AND (c) believed that work was not available or were having temporary sickness during the 30 days before the survey. Of the 75 inactive occupational therapists, 51 (68.0%) reported not practising in the occupational therapy profession in Hong Kong and not seeking job in the local occupational therapy profession during the 30 days before the survey, 15 (20.0%) reported practising overseas, nine (12.0%) reported practising in the Mainland. Of the 51 inactive occupational therapists, 22 (43.1%) were working in other professions, 16 (31.4%) were engaged in household duties, seven (13.7%) were retired and the remaining six (11.8%)* had other reasons for being inactive.
