In the 2011 Health Manpower Survey, 2 850 medical laboratory technologists covered and 1 144 active medical laboratory technologists were enumerated. In the 2014 Health Manpower Survey, 3 084 medical laboratory technologists covered and 944 active medical laboratory technologists were enumerated. 439 were male and 505 were female. Their sex ratio was 87 male active medical laboratory technologists enumerated per 100 female active medical laboratory technologists enumerated. Their mean age was 43.3. Their median age was 44.0. Among the 944 active medical laboratory technologists enumerated, 85(9.0%) worked in the Government, 435(46.1%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 342(36.2%) worked in the private sector, 79(8.4%) worked in others and three(0.3%) did not reveal the sector of work.
