Chart title: Activity Status of Pharmacists Covered Of the 2 105 pharmacists covered, 1 049 (49.8%) had responded to the survey, while the remaining 1 056 (50.2%) had not responded. Among the respondents, 838 (79.9%) were active in the local pharmacy profession whereas 211 (20.1%) reported to be inactive in the local pharmacy profession. Among the 838 active pharmacists, 823 (98.2%) were practising in the local pharmacy profession and 13 (1.6%) (a) were not practising in the pharmacy profession in Hong Kong during the survey period; (b) had been available for work during in the local pharmacy profession during the seven days before the survey; and (c) had sought work in the local pharmacy profession during the 30 days before the survey. The remaining two (0.2%) responding pharmacists who (a) were not practising in the pharmacy profession in Hong Kong during the survey period; (b) had been available for work during in the local pharmacy profession during the seven days before the survey; and (c) were starting business at subsequent date or waiting to take up a new job in the local pharmacy profession during the 30 days before the survey. Of the 211 inactive pharmacists, 122 (57.8%) reported not practising in the pharmacy profession in Hong Kong and not seeking job in the local pharmacy profession during the 30 days before the survey, 81 (38.4%) reported practising overseas and eight (3.8%) reported practising in the Mainland in the pharmacy profession. Of the 122 not seeking job pharmacists, 49 (40.2%) were working in other professions, 36 (29.5%) were retired, 18 (14.8%) were engaged in household duties, 15 (12.3%) wanted to take a rest / had no motive to work / had no financial need and four (3.3%) were emigrated, undertaking study, etc. Percentage may not add up to 100% due to rounding.
