Title: Table A : Number of Healthcare Personnel Enumerated by Sector as at 31.3.2009 A total of 62 audiologists (53 full-time and 9 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 62 audiologists enumerated, 34 (26 full-time and 8 part-time) (54.8%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 17 (17 full-time) (27.4%) employed by the Hospital Authority, 7 (7 full-time) (11.3%) by the Government and 4 (3 full-time and 1 part-time) (6.5%) by the subvented sector. A total of 50 audiology technicians (45 full-time and 5 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 50 audiology technicians enumerated, 35 (30 full-time and 5 part-time) (70.0%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 9 (9 full-time)(18.0%) employed by the Hospital Authority, 3 (3 full-time) (6.0%) by the Government and 3 (3 full-time)(6.0%) by the subvented sector. A total of 40 chiropodists / podiatrists (28 full-time and 12 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 40 chiropodists / podiatrists enumerated, 20 (18 full-time and 2 part-time) (50.0%) were employed by the Hospital Authority, followed by 17 (9 full-time and 8 part-time)(42.5%) employed by the private sector and 3 (1 full-time and 2 part-time) (7.5%) by the subvented sector. A total of 403 clinical psychologists (307 full-time and 96 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 403 clinical psychologists enumerated, 139 (71 full-time and 68 part-time) (34.5%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 105 (102 full-time and 3 part-time) (26.1%) employed by the the Government, 92 (92 full-time) (22.8%) employed by the Hospital Authority, 41 (33 full-time and 8 part-time) (10.2%) by the subvented sector and 26 (9 full-time and 17 part-time) (6.5%) by the academic sector. A total of 190 dental hygienists (140 full-time and 50 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 190 dental hygienists enumerated, 165 (115 full-time and 50 part-time) (86.8%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 14 (14 full-time) (7.4%) employed by the academic sector and 11 (11 full-time) (5.8%) by the Government. A total of 2 847 dental surgery assistants (2 437 full-time and 410 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 2 847 dental surgery assistants enumerated, 2 435 (2 028 full-time and 407 part-time) (85.5%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 261 (261 full-time) (9.2%) employed by the Government, 126 (126 full-time) (4.4%) by the academic sector, 18 (15 full-time and 3 part-time) (0.6%) by the subvented sector and 7 (7 full-time) (0.2%) by the Hospital Authority. A total of 318 dental technicians / technologists (291 full-time and 27 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 318 dental technicians / technologists enumerated, 238 (211 full-time and 27 part-time) (74.8%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 47 (47 full-time) (14.8%) employed by the Government, 31 (31 full-time) (9.7%) by the academic sector and 2 (2 full-time) (0.6%) by the Hospital Authority. A total of 296 dental therapists (296 full-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 296 dental therapists, all of them were employed by the Government. A total of 312 dietitians (198 full-time and 114 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 312 dietitians enumerated, 207 (104 full-time and 103 part-time) (66.3%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 74 (70 full-time and 4 part-time) (23.7%) employed by the Hospital Authority, 14 (14 full-time) (4.5%) by the Government, 13 (7 full-time and 6 part-time) (4.2%) by the subvented sector and 4 (3 full-time and 1 part-time) (1.3%) by the academic sector. A total of 1 961 dispensers (1 818 full-time and 143 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 1 961 dispensers enumerated, 933 (797 full-time and 136 part-time) (47.6%) employed by the private sector, followed by 918 (918 full-time) (46.8%) were employed by the Hospital Authority, 57 (57 full-time) (2.9%) by the Government, 46 (39 full-time and 7 part-time) (2.3%) by the subvented sector and 7 (7 full-time) (0.4%) by the academic sector. A total of 153 educational psychologists (96 full-time and 57 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 153 educational psychologists enumerated, 47 (28 full-time and 19 part-time) (30.7%) were employed by the subvented sector, followed by 38 (22 full-time and 16 part-time) (24.8%) employed by the private sector, 36 (35 full-time and 1 part-time) (23.5%) by the Government and 32 (11 full-time and 21 part-time) (20.9%) by the academic sector. A total of 34 mould laboratory technicians (34 full-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 34 mould laboratory technicians enumerated, 24 (24 full-time) (70.6%) were employed by the Hospital Authority, followed by 10 (10 full-time) (29.4%) employed by the private sector. A total of 30 orthoptists (26 full-time and 4 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 30 orthoptists enumerated, 14 (10 full-time and 4 part-time) (46.7%) were employed by the private sector, followed by 12 (12 full-time) (40.0%) employed by the Hospital Authority and 4 (4 full-time) (13.3%) by the Government. A total of 129 prosthetists / orthotists (118 full-time and 11 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 129 prosthetists / orthotists enumerated, 90 (89 full-time and 1 part-time) (69.8%) were employed by the Hospital Authority, followed by 33 (24 full-time and 9 part-time) (25.6%) employed by the private sector, 3 (2 full-time and 1 part-time) (2.3%) by the academic sector and 3 (3 full-time) (2.3%) by the subvented sector A total of 172 full-time scientific officers (medical) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 172 scientific officers (medical) enumerated, 67 (67 full-time) (39.0%) were employed by the Government, followed by 44(44 full-time) (25.6%) employed by the Hospital Authority, 44 (30 full-time and 14 part-time) (25.6%) by the private sector and 17 (16 full-time and 1 part-time) (9.9%) by the academic sector. A total of 506 speech therapists (405 full-time and 101 part-time) were employed by the covered institutions as at 31.3.2009. Of the 506 speech therapists enumerated, 214 (191 full-time and 23 part-time) (42.3%) were employed by the subvented sector, followed by 172 (127 full-time and 45 part-time) (34.0%) employed by the private sector, 57 (57 full-time) (11.3%) by the Hospital Authority, 44 (11 full-time and 33 part-time) (8.7%) by the academic sector and 19 (19 full-time) (3.8%) by the Government.
