In the 1987 Health Manpower Survey on Pharmacists, 607 pharmacists covered and 366 active pharmacists were enumerated. The number of male was 234 and the number of female was 132. Their sex ratio was 92 male active pharmacists enumerated per 100 female active pharmacists enumerated. Their mean age was 39.2 and median age was 38.0. Among the 831 active pharmacists enumerated, 35(4.2%) worked in the Government, 232(27.9%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 551(66.3%) worked in the private sector and 13(1.6%) worked in others. In the 2009 Health Manpower Survey on Pharmacists, 1 859 pharmacists covered and 949 active pharmacists were enumerated. Seven pharmacists did not indicate the gender. Of the remaining 942 active pharmacists enumerated, 446 were male and 496 were female. Their sex ratio was 90 male active pharmacists enumerated per 100 female active pharmacists enumerated. Their mean age was 40.3 and median age was 39.0. In the 2012 Health Manpower Survey on Pharmacists, 2 105 pharmacists covered and 823 active pharmacists were enumerated. Six pharmacists did not indicate the gender. Of the remaining 817 active pharmacists enumerated, 386 were male and 431 were female. Their sex ratio was 90 male active pharmacists enumerated per 100 female active pharmacists enumerated. Their mean age was 42.0 and median age was 41.0. Among the 823 active pharmacists enumerated, 70(8.5%) worked in the Government, 230(27.9%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 503(61.1%) worked in the private sector and 20(2.4%) worked in others. In the 2015 Health Manpower Survey on Pharmacists, 2 475 pharmacists covered and 817 active pharmacists were enumerated. Five pharmacists did not indicate the gender. Of the remaining 812 active pharmacists enumerated, 375 were male and 437 were female. Their sex ratio was 86 male active pharmacists enumerated per 100 female active pharmacists enumerated. Their mean age was 42.0 and median age was 40.0. Among the 817 active pharmacists enumerated, 70(8.6%) worked in the Government, 261(31.9%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 457(55.9%) worked in the private sector and 29(3.5%) worked in others. In the 2018 Health Manpower Survey on Pharmacists, 2 851 pharmacists covered and 1032 active pharmacists were enumerated. Four pharmacists did not indicate the gender. Of the remaining 1 028 active pharmacists enumerated, 485 were male and 543 were female. Their sex ratio was 89 male active pharmacists enumerated per 100 female active pharmacists enumerated. Their mean age was 41.6 and median age was 39.0. Among the 1 032 active pharmacists enumerated, 99(9.6%) worked in the Government, 316(30.6%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 580(56.2%) worked in the private sector and 37(3.6%) worked in others.
