Suspected food poisoning case under CHP investigation

23 November 2012

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (November 23) investigating a suspected food poisoning outbreak involving 59 patients at Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) and Siu Lam Hospital. A CHP spokesman reminded members of the public to maintain personal, food and environmental hygiene to prevent food-borne diseases.

The case involved 34 males and 25 females aged between 18 and 88. Most of the patients developed diarrhoea in early morning of November 23 after having meals provided by the same outside vendor located in CPH.

All affected patients are currently in stable condition. Investigations by the CHP are proceeding.
