In the 2000 Health Manpower Survey, 1 245 physiotherapists covered and 993 active physiotherapists were enumerated. 426 were male and 567 were female. Among the 993 active physiotherapists enumerated, 13(1.3%) worked in the Government, 589(59.3%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 33(3.3%) worked in the academic sector and 145(14.6%) worked in the subvented sector and 213(21.5%) worked in the private sector. In the 2004 Health Manpower Survey, 1 724 physiotherapists covered and 1 048 active physiotherapists were enumerated. 442 were male and 606 were female. Their sex ratio was 73 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 33.0. Among the 1 048 active physiotherapists enumerated, 19(1.8%) worked in the Government, 519(49.5%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 49(4.7%) worked in the academic sector, 179(17.1%) worked in the subvented sector and 282(26.9%) worked in the private sector. In the 2005 Health Manpower Survey, 1 835 physiotherapists covered and 1 160 active physiotherapists were enumerated. Two physiotherapists did not indicate their sex. Of the remaining 1 158 active physiotherapists, 486 were male and 672 were female. Their sex ratio was 72 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 32.8. Among the 1 160 active physiotherapists enumerated, 15(1.3%) worked in the Government, 528(45.5%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 44(3.8%) worked in the academic sector, 229(19.7%) worked in the subvented sector and 339(29.2%) worked in the private sector and five(0.4%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2006 Health Manpower Survey, 1 933 physiotherapists covered and 1 223 active physiotherapists were enumerated. 501 were male and 722 were female. Their sex ratio was 69 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 34.0. Among the 1 223 active physiotherapists enumerated, 17(1.4%) worked in the Government, 530(43.3%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 51(4.2%) worked in the academic sector, 234(19.1%) worked in the subvented sector and 384(31.4%) worked in the private sector and seven(0.6%) did not reveal their sector of work. In the 2007 Health Manpower Survey, 2 013 physiotherapists covered and 1 079 active physiotherapists were enumerated. 419 were male and 660 were female. Their sex ratio was 63 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 34.7. Among the 1 079 active physiotherapists enumerated, 17(1.6%) worked in the Government, 454(42.1%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 60(5.6%) worked in the academic sector, 193(17.9%) worked in the subvented sector and 354(32.8%) worked in the private sector and one(0.1%) did not reveal the sector of work. In the 2008 Health Manpower Survey, 2 065 physiotherapists covered and 1 089 active physiotherapists were enumerated. 437 were male and 652 were female. Their sex ratio was 67 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 35.1. Among the 1 089 active physiotherapists enumerated, 18(1.7%) worked in the Government, 442(40.6%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 40(3.7%) worked in the academic sector, 222(20.4%) worked in the subvented sector and 367(33.7%) worked in the private sector. In the 2011 Health Manpower Survey, 2 257 physiotherapists covered and 1 316 active physiotherapists were enumerated. Eight physiotherapists did not indicate their sex. Of the remaining 1 308 active physiotherapists, 526 were male and 782 were female. Their sex ratio was 67 male active physiotherapists enumerated per 100 female active physiotherapists enumerated. Their mean age was 37.1. Among the 1 316 active physiotherapists enumerated, 19(1.4%) worked in the Government, 558(42.4%) worked in the Hospital Authority, 47(3.6%) worked in the academic sector, 258(19.6%) worked in the subvented sector and 426(32.4%) worked in the private sector and eight(0.6%) did not reveal their sector of work.
