Letter to Doctors on
Infection among health care workers

Dear Doctor,
The Department of Health (DH) is conducting a detailed investigation
into the case of Prince of Wales Hospital staff developing fever and respiratory
infection symptoms. Up to date, 26 staff have developed febrile illness,
hospitalized and put under observation / treatment. Amongst them, ten
subsequently were noted to have early chest x-ray signs of pneumonia.
Please take the necessary infection control measures in handling patients
and advise health care staff under your supervision to do likewise.
The DH stands ready to offer advice and assistance to medical professionals
who detect unusual or unexplained pattern of illnesses. Please notify
such incidents to the respective Regional Office of the DH. The contact
