The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health is today (April 21) investigating an outbreak of influenza-like illness in a primary school in Sham Shui Po, and again reminded the public to maintain strict personal and environmental hygiene against influenza.
The 21 affected students, nine boys and 12 girls aged 6 to 12, have developed fever, cough and sore throat since April 11. All of them have sought medical attention and required no hospitalisation. They are now in stable condition.
Officers of the CHP conducted a site visit and advised the school to adopt necessary infection control measures against respiratory infections. The school has been put under medical surveillance.
