The Centre of Health Protection of the Department of Health is now investigating a confirmed case of Listeriosis involving a 32-year-old pregnant woman.
The woman, who lives in Eastern District with underlying illness, presented with abdominal pain, per-vaginal bleeding, vomiting and diarrhoea on December 17. She was admitted to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital on the same day.
She gave birth to her baby. The baby passed away on December 18. Placental swab taken on December 17 yielded Listeria monocytogenes.
The woman is now in stable condition.
