Hong Kong health chiefs to advise on health care reform on Mainland

The Director of Health, Dr PY Lam, and the Chairman of Hospital Authority, Mr Anthony Wu, have been appointed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) of China as advisers to the Overseas Expert Consulting Committee for Health Care Reform of China.

The appointment, on a voluntary basis, is for a term of three years.

The committee under the MoH is tasked to make reference to experiences in public health administration in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and the international community in contributing to the Mainland’s health care reform in terms of suggestions and strategic advice.
Both said they were much honoured to be appointed.
Dr Lam said he looked forward to helping add an international perspective to the Mainland’s health care reform.
Mr Wu said he would make every endeavour to play a part in the areas of public health management and hospital service operation.
