HFMD and EV71 situation update

A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one
enterovirus 71 infection and three hand, foot and mouth disease
(HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the 24 hours
ending at noon today (July 14).
This brings to 568 and 73 respectively the cumulative total numbers
of HFMD institutional outbreaks and laboratory confirmed EV71 infections
in 2010.
The new school outbreaks were in Sham Shui Po, Kwai Tsing and Sai
Kung districts.
One school is closed due to an HFMD outbreak.
