HFMD and EV71 situation update

A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about one enterovirus 71 infection and four hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the 24 hours ending at noon today (July 9).

This brings to 556 the cumulative total number of HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010.

The new school outbreaks were in Wan Chai, Yau Tsim Mong, Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun.

There is currently no school closure due to an HFMD outbreak.
