HFMD and EV71 situation update

A spokesman for the Department of Health said reports about six hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) institutional outbreaks were received during the two days ending at noon today (July 2). No new report of enterovirus 71 infection was received during the period.

This brings to 518 the cumulative total number of HFMD institutional outbreaks in 2010.

The new institutional outbreaks took place in Eastern, Wan Chai, Yau Tsim Mong and North.

One school is closed due to HFMD outbreak.
