The Department of Health is investigating a case of a four-month-old baby boy who died this morning.

The boy was found unconscious this morning while sleeping and was sent to the Prince of Wales Hospital where he failed to respond to resuscitation.

The boy received the second dose of both Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis and Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine (DTaP-IPV Vaccine) and pneumococcal conjugate vaccines at Lek Yuen Maternal and Child Health Centre yesterday (January 25) morning.

A spokesman said the case has been referred to the Coroner for investigation.

The vaccines are not known to be cause sudden death. "There is no cause for public alarm," the spokesman said.
