Free catch-up pneumococcal vaccination to children

Starting today (September 6), around 180 members of Auxiliary Medical Service (AMS), under the supervision of doctors and nurses, will station at 29 Maternal and Child Health Centres (MCHC) of the Department of Health on specified Sundays to provide free catch-up pneumococcal vaccination to children born between September 1, 2007 and June 30 this year.

The AMS members concerned underwent an intensive inoculation training programme followed by clinical attachment at MCHC earlier this year.

Some 128,000 children are eligible for receiving free catch-up pneumococcal vaccination.
