Press Release

Part of maternal and child services suspended

12 Jun 2009

A spokesman for the Department of Health (DH) today (June 12) said part of maternal and child services provided by the department would be suspended starting tomorrow (June 13) until further notice.

"Maternal and Child Health Centres will only provide services for children 12 months of age or under," the spokesman said.

Parents are advised not to bring along other siblings to the centres, he said.

He added that services provided for women by the centres would not be affected.

The spokesman said the arrangement was part of the measures to prevent the possible spread of human swine influenza (Influenza A H1N1) in the community.

Meanwhile, as the Shau Kei Wan Jockey Club Polyclinic has been assigned as one of the Designated Flu Clinics of the Hospital Authority which will commence operation on June 13, the Shau Kei Wan Elderly Health Centre in the complex will be closed with effect from June 15.

"DH staff will contact clients who have made appointments at these services early next week to advise them on details of the arrangements.

"They can also go to the Wan Chai Elderly Health Centre for follow up and drug refills," the spokesman said.
