11 Jun 2009

A spokesman for the Department of Health (DH) today (June 11) said a number of services provided by the department to members of the public would be suspended starting tomorrow until further notice.

The spokesman said the arrangement was part of the measures to prevent the possible spread of human swine influenza (Influenza A H1N1) in the community.

The services affected comprise School Dental Care Service for primary students and Student Health Service for primary and secondary students.

Meanwhile, as the Shau Kei Wan Jockey Club Polyclinic has been assigned as one of the Designated Flu Clinics of the Hospital Authority which will commence operation on June 13, the Shau Kei Wan Elderly Health Centre in the complex will be closed with effective from June 15.

"DH staff will contact clients who have made appointments at these services early next week to advise them on details of the arrangements,"the spokesman said.

The spokesman added that services being provided by the department's Family Health Service had not been affected at this stage but parts of its services would soon be suspended.

"The public will be informed in advance in case of suspension of services,"the spokesman said.
