4 May 2009

A spokesman for the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (May 4) said CHP hotline 2125 1111 yesterday (May 3) received calls from some taxi drivers. One of them, a 47-year old taxi-driver, was suspected to have taken the Mexican man who was confirmed to have been infected with human swine flu, from Metropark Hotel to Ruttonjee Hospital.

Medical staff of CHP had interviewed the caller and found his description was compatible with the current information at hand and sent him to Lady Maclehose Holiday Village, a designated site, for quarantine. He has no flu-like symptoms.

Thorough disinfection of his taxi had been conducted by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
