A spokesman for the Department of Health (DH) said today (April 23) that initial laboratory analysis of samples of all the 34 types of tablets and capsules (including the recalled Diurex) which were supplied to the Hospital Authority by Vickmans Laboratories Ltd. had indicated no growth of aspergillus species (a kind of fungus) so far in the products.
The spokesman said laboratory tests were on going.
"As the fungus concerned is known to grow slowly, final test results are expected to be available early next week," he said.
Meanwhile, DH hotline 2125 1122, which operates from 9am to 6pm, has so far received more than 1,100 public enquiries.
